Eric Corliss Wins New 2012 Subaru In Catamount's Annual Car Raffle
A Wheelock man will be driving new wheels
in 2012 as a result of having followed his
feelings this past New Year's Eve. Eric Corliss,
who had been eying the sample 2012 Subaru
Impreza on the lawn of Catamount Arts for
more than a month as he drove by each day
finally made the decision on NewYear's Eve to
stop in to purchase a set of tickets to the arts
organization's annual car raffle. "I would see
the car each day as I drove down Eastern
Avenue on my way to lunch," Corliss said
recently as he claimed his new vehicle at the
Saint Johnsbury Subaru dealership. "I kept
putting off buying a ticket, but the more I saw
the car the more I felt that I had a real chance
on winning." "Then, on New Year's Eve as I
was getting off work at about 5:30 pm, I got
into my truck and turned on the radio to 105.5
fm. They were playing an ad for the raffle,"
Corliss went on. "That's all it took. I drove
straight to Catamount and purchased a set of
three tickets." Later that evening, just before
midnight, Corliss received a call from St.
Johnsbury Police Chief Clem Houde, who had
drawn the winning ticket. Corliss' excited reaction to the news was actually heard by a large crowd standing outside Catamount Arts as Houde had put the call on the public address system before giving Corliss the happy news. Corliss, and his wife Destiny, are longtime residents of Wheelock, where they live with their 16 month old daughter Sophia. The employee of Wells and Sons Electric Company in Lyndonville had been driving a three year old pick-up before winning the raffle. Corliss' prize in the annual raffle offered by Catamount was a brand new 2012 Subaru Impreza furnished by Saint Johnsbury Subaru. The model was so new that Corliss actually received the first car of the new model to be ordered by Mike Loschiavo, owner of the local Subaru dealership.
"We are very happy that Saint J Subaru could be a part of getting 2012 off to such an exciting start for Eric and his family," Loschiavo commented at the recent signing where Corliss took possession of his new Impreza. "We are also very happy that so many people chose to support the arts in our community by purchasing tickets."

The annual car raffle has become so successful in the three years that it has been offered that the event has now one of Catamount's biggest fund raisers each year. "We wish to thank everyone who participated in the raffle," said Catamount executive director Jody Fried, "Although only one person was able to win the car, the generosity of Saint J Subaru and everyone who purchased a ticket has actually helped to make the arts and our entire
community the big winner."
And Corliss, who has not been a regular participant in Catamount activities until now, will be paying closer attention to all of the offerings by the arts organization during the coming year, and, by his own admission "will not wait so long next year to buy my raffle tickets."
