Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD
Antilock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)
The combination of a four-channel, four-sensor Antilock Brake System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution provides optimal stopping performance that adds control and assurance during heavy braking. The ABS automatically controls the slip ratio of each wheel, maintaining straight-line stability. EBD allocates power to the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on the force needed to stop.
Antilock Brake System (ABS)
Every Subaru
vehicle comes with a four-channel, four-sensor Antilock Brake System.
The ABS automatically modulates brake pedal pressure
to help prevent
wheel lock-up, maintaining straight-
line stability and steering control.
Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)
Electronic Brake-force Distribution automatically varies the amount of force applied to each of a vehicle's brakes. EBD adjusts brake hydraulic pressure between the front and rear axles in order to maximize stopping power.
Variable Torque Distribution (VTD)
Models equipped with 5-speed
automatic transmission utilize an electronically
controlled variable
transfer clutch in conjunction
with a planetary-type center
differential.
See it in action
The advanced technology of our Variable Torque Distribution system sets Subaru apart from conventional All-Wheel Drive (AWD) configurations. Developed specifically to enhance Subaru Symmetrical AWD, VTD automatically adjusts the vehicle's torque split, helping to reduce understeer and contributing to vehicle agility. The VTD system responds to driving conditions and optimizes power distribution on all types of road surfaces.
The Advantages of VTD
VTD helps provide maximum grip and stability during everyday driving and in extreme conditions. When road conditions change unexpectedly, the VTD smart system automatically adjusts the vehicle's amount of torque to provide the best possible traction in any road or weather condition. The result is dynamic handling that feels intuitive: an extension of the driver's mind and body.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
This
system constantly monitors the pressure
levels of all four tires. If
the tire pressure level
drops in one or more tires, a display alerts
the
driver to potentially unsafe driving conditions.
