The 2013 Subaru BRZ unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show  November 30, 2011
On November 30, the 2013 Subaru BRZ made its international debut at the Tokyo Auto Show in Japan. The BRZ sports a lightweight design and offers nimble performance. It's powered by the new 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine that sits lower and farther back in the engine well, enhancing the torque and handling while offering greater fuel efficiency and power. It's light, agile and totally dialed in to the driver. The U.S. production model will be unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

MotorTrend: "Subaru Nails It"

"Off the chart." That's what Motor Trend said after taking its first drive of the all-new 2013 Subaru BRZ. Calling it a nimble, intriguing sports car, they admit the BRZ is special, pointing out the all-new 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine as one of its key design features. The engine sits lower and farther back, keeping the center of gravity as low as possible.
The moment you sit behind the wheel and step on the accelerator, you can feel how rapidly and accurately the BRZ responds to the driver's input. According to Motor Trend, it has the same "sweet-natured nimbleness as a Mazda Miata or Porsche Boxster" and delivers a "healthy mid-range punch of power."

Road & Track: "Impressive Agility"

In their first taste of the 2013 Subaru BRZ prototype, the experts at Road & Track make note of the combination of lightweight design and impressive agility. The BRZ is built at the Gunma plant in Japan, and the placement of the all-new 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine is touted to have a center of gravity of 17.7 inches above the ground.
The BRZ is described as "light on its feet" and that it "corners with confidence." After all the scrutiny, they admit they're excited to see such affordable rear-wheel-drive sports cars coming onto the market and "can't wait to get their hands on one.

Car And Driver: BRZ is a "Knockout"

The experts at Car and Driver were thoroughly excited after their first look and drive of the all-new 2013 Subaru BRZ. Starting with the interior, they describe it as "nicely detailed with an emphasis on function" and notice the roof arc is generously shaped for passenger headroom and visibility.
Then they moved onto the engine, noting the all-new 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine sits 4.7 inches lower and 9.4 inches closer to the center of the car. This position gives the BRZ an incredibly low center of gravity. The benefits of this were then felt in its agile handling, especially in tight cornering.
